Giving Thanks

  • Notes: I am very impressed with those of you who posted on last week's blog ("Song Birds"). As a whole, the comments were creative, on topic, and appropriate for a rhetorical analysis. Keep working on the "so what?" piece. Once you have identified the rhetorical devices, always bear in mind, what is the point? What is the effect? How does it contribute to the work as a whole? These skills will be particularly useful for your final. *hint, hint* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Your comment: During this week physically away from school, take some to reflect on your life. As we discussed with creating loving, prosperous relationships (The Crucible, Act II), each individual's life maintains a balance of good and bad. Your perpetual task is to keep the positive experiences outweighing that of the negative. In this reflective spirit, I'd like you to think optimistically.
    •   Describe ten things in life in which you are grateful; explain why. Be creative. If you are blessed with family and/or friends who support you, then obviously you are grateful for them. Don't take up one of the spots on this list with something you should be saying to these people everyday.
      • My example: I make my own family/friends do this activity with me each year. One year, when it was my turn to say what I was thankful for, I said, "Two-ply toilet paper." Of course, everyone laughed, which was my intention. However, I was also serious. I went on to explain my rationale: the importance of our modern sewage system, running water, and comfortable toilet paper - not tree bark or even our own hands, as it has been throughout history.
Deadline: TUESDAY, November 23rd at midnight
        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Commenting on others': Focus your comments on two classmates' comments that particularly strike a chord with you for some reason: is it emotionally appealing? is it creative? is it funny? is it well-written? is it riddled with grammatical errors? is it boring? does it effectively or ineffectively address the prompt? Give each of your peers feedback on how well he or she addressed the topic, as well as why you chose to comment on their particular comment. Be honest - this is for your grade and theirs.

Deadline: FRIDAY, November 26th at midnight

*Reminder: There will be a new blog posted, as always, on Thursday evening (November 25th).

  1. -Having a home is a main thing that I am thankful for. Why, because their are many people living out in the streets and have no where to go. NO one to be around with, not a good environment, and especially having the need to use a bathroom privately. They might have to go to a public restroom and use it their, but since they do not have a home, they are very helpless and it is sad to see those in need of help.
-I give thanks for having clothes and shoes, because without them I would be cold during the winter and being cold in the winter can result in having many colds, and your health can be at risk.
-I give thanks for having parents that wants us travel around, because to me, it is important to explore new places and observe different types of societies in cities. I say that because their are people that do not realize that in the world their can be a city that has children with no family, no food, or no one to take care of them and some kids around the ages of 6-9 have to go out and beg for money so that they can support themselves.
-I give thanks for having communications with my entire family and friends. I like to communicate with them and that gives me the experience of knowing people.
I give thanks to those who save people in desperate needs of help because with out them, how would we survive.
-I give thanks for having such caring and loving parents. My parents make food each day for us and I always thought that every family was like that, eating a nice meal that they cooked up for their family and enjoying a nice and decent conversation. But I was wrong. I have heard that not many families are like that, especially in the United States because sometimes parents are to busy that they have to just go and buy McDonald's,Carl's Jr., Jack in the box, etc. to feed their children/family. Fast Food is good, I know because i hardly get fast food, but it's a good thing because i am actually having homemade and home cooked meals comfortably with my family.

  2. Giving Thanks blog

    1) I am thankful for my parents. Without them, I would not have the wonderful life I have now. My dad provides the support I need for my grades. My mom gives me the advice and encouragement I need for everything non-school related.
    2) I am thankful for my siblings. If I was an only child, as many people think, I would not have gone to the places that I have, or been given the advice that I have. I would not have the wonderful extended family that I am able to call mine. (nieces, nephews, in-laws, etc.)
    3) I am thankful for my cell phone. If I did not have one, I would have to bug someone every day after school to use theirs and call my parents. I am grateful for my parents being able to afford a nice phone for me and the plan that goes with it. (Mostly, I am grateful that I do not have to pay for it myself!) :]
    4) I am thankful for the nice house that I have. I have seen homeless people on the side of the road many times in my life, and it is a sad sight. I am grateful for the electricity, plumbing, heating and cooling, and every other utility that my parents pay for.
    5) I am grateful for the wonderful friends that I have. Over the past five years, I have lost some friends, and made some new ones. I honestly do not know how I would have made it through my high school years without the ones I have. I would not have the wonderful memories that I have now.
    6) I am thankful for my education. It will let me go so far in life and I am honestly privileged to be able to go to school, where not everyone can. Without a proper education, my future will be pretty limited.
    7) I am thankful for law enforcement. I do not say this only because my brother is in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept., I say it with meaning, because without law enforcement officials, we would liven in a chaotic world. There would be no order, and our civilization as we know it would be threatened by extinction.
    8) I am thankful for being “normal”, as my generation would call it. If I had been born with a defect, I would have a hard time getting anywhere in life or “fitting in”. As it turns out, I can be weird sometimes, but nothing compared to some people that I can think of.
    9) I am thankful for my iPod. Some people would think that this is not something that you should be grateful for, but I strongly disagree. Without my iPod, I would be lost. Yes, I have homework to keep me occupied. But what do I do when I need a break, or when it is all done? I have my music and games to keep me busy when I need a break. It can really come in handy when I need to be left alone.
    10) I am thankful for my 3 dogs. I love my dogs more than anything in the world. When I feed them each morning before I leave for school, I usually talk to them and tell them how much I love them and how much they mean to me. Although I know they cannot talk to me or tell me how they feel, I feel as if I can tell their emotions. They mean the world to me.

  3. 1. I am grateful for the loving family that i have. Without them i may have turned out to be a rebel. I owe them a lot for their support
    2. I am thankful for my two min-pins. They provide my house with protection. At first they were just cry babies. They have grown to be guard dogs. I am so glad i didn't give them away. They are vicious.
    3. When i was in the third grade i had trouble with multiplication. I thank the quiet girl for speaking out and helping me learn the material. I am glad she became my tutor because the next day we had a pop quiz. It was because of her that i got 100%. I wish i could remember her name.
    4. I am grateful that i had Mr. Smotherman for a teacher last year. He helped me understand that i have potential. Without his life lessons i would be clueless as to what i am capable of accomplishing.
    5. The reason why stress does not have a big effect on me is because i am surrounded by wonderful friends. They keep me on my toes. I am thankful for the people i can call friends.
    6. What would i do without my little sister Karely? She is only 5, but she makes a big difference in my life. Although annoying and loud, she is the one that gets me through the day. From her big smiles to her amazing spirit. She lifts me up when i need it most. Like when she sang me the Baskin Robbins song to cheer me up (ice cream and cake, cake, cake). She understood that i was upset after arguing with my mom.
    7. I am thankful for my mom. She was strong enough to raise 2 kids by herself. Anyone else would have given up. She went through so much to give my brother and I a better life. I know that she is strict because she does not want me to go through the same situation.
    8. I owe a lot to my step-dad. He became everything my father failed to do. Thank you daddy, you have showed me to stop living in the past.
    9. I am thankful to call Mr. Arient my coach. Sometimes I feel that my performance is based on his encouragement. If he does not cheer me on, i do not put my whole heart into the race.
    10. Thank you God for accepting me. You are the reason i am able to wake up in the morning. I hope that everyone understands that i do what i must to stand tall in his presence.
Extra Credit: I am thankful for Joshua Lanyon. I call him and he types my homework for me so it is turned in on time. I do not know what i would do without his help. He brings inspiration to my life. He is AMAZING!

  4. 1) I remember going to El Salvador in 6th grade, and I noticed life is so much different over there. It seems like there are more opportunities of succeeding in the United States then over there. Of course there are beautiful, amazing places in El Salvador; nice house; beautiful beaches. While being over there for a month I got to explore most of the country, and what is common is houses that aren't houses. I'm thankful to have a house that is durable and steady, somewhere I could live in comfort.
    2) Without music in this world, living on it would be boring. Music is not only for entertainment purposes it also helpful for people to express themselves. Music gives a sense of rhythm to your life, it helps people have fun by: dancing, singing, laughing, smiling. It also has the power to reach out to a person, music is very helpful. It is helpful to me for these reasons that is way I am thankful there is music in the world.
    3) Family is always there to lend a hand, to be supportive. My family is amazing, their always here to help me out. Without my family in my life I'd be lost in this world. Their support, their motivation, their love; is what keeps me going. I'm so thankful I have a great, loving family who I could always lean on.
    4) I'm also real thankful for my mom. She is the best, she's always standing strong no matter what hardships life shows her. She's my role model I love her to death. No matter what, she is always there by my side. She is my mom and my dad and that is what makes me appreciate her more. My mom wants the best for me, she never hold back in loving me. I'm never going to hold back on her either.
    5) Education is really important, it helps you be someone in life. Many don't have the opportunity to go to school and get an education. I'm thankful I do have the opportunity to go to school and learn.
    6) I'm thankful for being healthy, to not worry about going to the doctors often. To be able to enjoy life without worrying I might get sick.
    7) Having someone to call your own is important. That is why I am thankful for having that special someone in my life. He has been by my side through thick and thin. He has been able to help me with the hardships in my life. We have had some crazy times together, they are memories that I will never forget. Right now we are going through tough times I just hope he stays in my life. I would be more thankful for him if he stayed in my life forever.
    8) I give thanks to have food and be able to eat. Many families and people say the same thing. I am very thankful to be able to get up every day and get feed.
    9) I have a dog, and he is so funny. He is always by my side, he also protects me. Im thankful we got him because he keeps me entertained, I love him. He is also always here to comfort me and keep me company.
    10) What I'm really thankful for is being alive. For being able to wake up every morning and live life.

  10. 1. I thank God for the talents that he has blessed me with. I cherish music very much. It is my heart and soul poured into a sensation of mystical, vibrant sounds. I love music because it has become my essential source of happiness and it is a way to express my imagination, feelings, and love.
    2. I thank God everyday for the ability to be able to go every week to church and have fun while strengthening my belief in him. I am like any other person; I'm not perfect, my ground shakes and so does my belief but I know that any time that I realize how foolish I am for ever leaving, I can come back into his path.
    3. Everyday I thank God for my brothers, specifically Misael. I love him because he made me strive to learn more about piano even after the sudden death of my teacher. I didn't learn much so I had to listen to songs and attempt to learn them, eventually I did. I learned by hearing. I also love him because he is the one person I look up to. I remember that when I got to sing the national anthem at my school, he said "don't let the Rios down". I practiced everyday just so that I could make him proud of me. When the day came, I was extremely nervous. The first rally didn't go as well as I wanted it to, and to my luck, he was not present. When he walked in, he called me over and said "Don't let the Rios down; we don't mess up." I smiled but deep inside I was dying. When I performed, I did so great. I love it. I was so proud of my voice and I walked towards him and he gave me a hug (let me point out it was not my birthday or new years :) and yelled "this is my sister!!!" When we were walking home he said the words that i had lived for hearing... He said "I'm proud of you Abby. You didn't let the Rios down, you made ME proud." I was so happy. Those words will stay in my heart forever. Let me also point out that he had said that to only one person and that was when I sang in front of three thousand people when I was eight, so in order for him to say that, it means ALOT.
    4. I thank God for my aunt, Estela, she is like my second mom. I know I can run to her for anything and everything. I stay over at her house for rest and for advice. I love her for always being the for me and always lending a hand to, for never being prejudice and for never being mean to me. She has always believed in me and I know she will continue being the closest adult to me.
    5. I thank God everyday for the movie, Silence of the Lambs. When i watched that movie, I realized that Clarice's job was the perfect job for me. She studied Behavioral Sciences and used it to understand criminals and enforce the law. I love that movie because it shows the intensity of being in the BAU and for me it seems sort of fun. I understand that it is life-threatening but I still love the job. I love all parts of it.

  11. 6. I thank God for my family, the Rios. I love the fact that we are strict but at the same time we know how to have fun. My father's job, Pastor of a church, has made us a much stronger family, and much stronger people as individuals. We know how to keep strong when the storm is here, and we know how to lead even when our lives seem like it is going nowhere. I love my family for being such a strong family. We have faced many struggles, mainly with my dad but eventually I understood why he is the way he is. I know that one day we will be back together; we will be able to enjoy our lives as a family put together after the storm. "After all this has passed I still will remain, and after I've cried my last there will be beauty from pain. Though it won't be today, someday I'll hope again and there will be beauty from my pain." - Superchick - Beauty From Pain
    7. I am grateful to God for the home he has provided me with. I never realized how much it meant to me until I almost lost it. (we all know that the economy sucks)I guess its true when they say you never know what you have till it's gone. I didn't lose it but I almost did and i realized that I cherish the rare moments that I spend there.
    8. I am thankful for my friends, Viviana and Jeff. Viviana is like a sister to me and she knows every aspect of my life as well as i know hers. She is the best chick friend I could ever have. Jeff is also very important to me. He is always giving me advice. He has stood by me through thick and thin. He attempted to speak to me for almost six weeks during freshman year and I ignored him. After weeks of annoyance, I finally replied to his daily hello and ever since then we have become best friends. I love him and forever will.
    9. I thank God for politics. I have enjoyed watching the way people argue with each other just to get their point across. I also love the way that they decide for all of us. It is crazy to see how they understand what to do with the millions of people that there are in the country. The way that so many people look up to them and depend on their decisions makes them incredible people. My goal this year is to read "Decision Points" by George W. Bush. I know this is controversial but he is one of my favorite presidents for taking such a hard decision. All I want to say to those people that are completely against him is, What would you do if you were in that position? Place yourself in his shoes and the limited knowledge you had of what people truly wanted.
    10. I am extremely grateful for the chance that God has given me to live. He has allowed me to live a life full of both ups and downs. I have faced several struggles, really tough struggles but i know that "God will never put you through anything you can't overcome" (1 Corinthians 10.13) I know that every day I get stronger through every struggle and through every decision that I make. I have enjoyed my life to the fullest because I know that the positive will always outweigh the negative. At the end of the day I always realize that my life is going the way God wants it to be.

  12. 1. I am thankful for just having a home over my roof. This is dues to the fact that every time I turn on the TV or just see a people that live on the street just breaks my heart. Therefore just having a place to spend the night is something to be thankful for.

    5. I am thankful for my brothers Carlos and Alberto. First of all, my brother that is fourteen is the best guy every because he protect me like a younger sister eventhough I am older. Then there is my otehr brother Alberto he the baby but he is the best brother evey because he would do anything for me.
    6. I am thankful for the trip to Florida. This is because we fundrasied for a long time and the experince I had was worth all that fundrasing.
    7. I am thankful for Mr. Arient and Mr. Hawk. These were thte two people that made everything possible to go to Florida. Without them planning the tripand the fundrasier the 31 student could not go.
    8. I am thankful for having an education. This is because with out one I will end up struggling and winning minimum wage.
    9. I am thankful for all the essential because without them I would not be able to get clean.

  13. I am thankful for many things and when i go to Mexico for vacation, I am suddenly thankful for way more things.

    1. I am thankful for being able to go to school for no cost. In Mexico is not extremely expensive, but wages are very small. People get usually paid either 150 pesos (15) for a week of work. So, it is very hard to eat and at the same time receive an education.

    2. I am thankful for having a home. Many people in Mexico and in the United States do not have a roof above their head. Many live in the streets and put up with the cold every winter. Sure, we also have to put up with the cold, but we have heaters or many blankets to keep us warm. but they do not.

    3. I am also thankful for being able to have a nice dinner every year during Thanksgiving. As you and I are each having a nice dinner with family and friends, there is many others who go hungry not just on Thanksgiving but every day.

    4. I am thankful for being able to live in the land of opportunities. The country where all your dreams of succeeding can come true. To make it somewhere in life in the U.S. needs nothing more than a dream.

    5. I am thankful for my mom and dad. They came to this country when my mom was just 5 months pregnant with me. They had to sacrifice a lot in order for me to be able to have a chance at doing something that they had never been able to do in Mexico, to have a high education.

    6. I am thankful for art. Without art, people would not be able to express themselves through the beauty of art. Without paintings, music or sculptures, many teens would be in jail because without having something to do they would commit crimes.

    7. I am thankful for the World Cup. Every four years the World Cup occurs. Thirty-two countries from around the world come together to take part in the most beautiful sport in the world, soccer. All problems are forgotten and nations join together to watch their teams go for the gold. Suddenly, we all sing to the same word,"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLL!!"

    8. I am thankful for being able to live an amazing childhood with the people that I love.

    9. I am thankful for heartbreaks. People that are very strong suddenly crack when their heart is broken. Well of course it feels horrible, but after you get over it you are suddenly stronger than never before.

    10. I am thankful for women suffragists like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Without them, none of the girls in Ms. Maenpaa's class on any other class would be in school. No woman would be in politics.

    11. I am thankful for homework. Sure it seems like a waste of time now, but it will eventually take each and every one of us somewhere and ten years from now when we are asked what we are grateful for, we'll say'"Homework."

  14. Ten Things I’m Grateful For

    - I am grateful for a roof above my head. It’s quite warm and cozy right know, but that’s because I live in a house, with central air and ventilation. It’s a comfort that I know not very many people have. I am thankful that it provides me with shelter when the weather is frightening and dangerous (like now).

    - I am grateful for my phone. I know it’s quite materialistic, but I am thankful for the dinosaur phone that I have come to possess for the past four months. It allows me to communicate with people that I would otherwise not be able to see or talk with on a daily basis. Even though it’s not the most high-tech thing out there, I’m just glad that I’m still able to use it to text and talk and communicate. Not a lot of people have that kind of communicative device, having to resort to pay phones or snail mail to talk to someone.

    - I am grateful for my brother. Not very many people know this, but he has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy ever since he was born. It still doesn’t stop him from being the most lovable, adorable little brother anyone could ever have. He is like any other brother: he can be a handful and sometimes I wish he would just shut up. But most of the time I enjoy his company, his laughter, and the silly little quirks he gets into. I am very grateful that God blessed me with a brother, even if he is handicapped. (:

    - I am grateful for my family. They have been extremely supportive of me and are eager to lend a helping hand whenever I need it. Even though they can be a little bit dramatic and crazy, I still love them and I am thankful that I have a family so loving and caring that will always be there for me no matter what.

    - I am grateful for my friends. Just like my family, they have been supportive of me and always know what to say to make me happy when I’m down. I know that one day we will part, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t always be in my hearts. For that, I am grateful that God stuck me with a strange group of friends.

    - I am grateful for the keys to my house. I never really knew how important they could be until I got locked out of my own house. I had to resort to staying outside until my mom came home, or go to my friend’s house. Even though I have options, I still think it is important for everyone to have keys. Without them, we’d all have to break in to our own homes.

    - I am grateful for music. I really don’t know how I could live without a pair of headphones connected to my iPod, blasting the music my mother hates. When words fail, music speaks. The melodies of my favorite songs are the remedies for my heartbreak, my anger, my sadness. They also pump me up with energy and have me singing out loud when I’m alone in my room. For that, I am thankful.

    - I am grateful for books. For some reason, words spilling across the blank pages of a book bring me joy and excitement. If it’s a book I’ve never read before, I read feverishly, anxious for what’s waiting at the end. When I finish a book, I feel a sense of accomplishment and can’t wait to start reading another novel, but then again I feel sad that another amazing story has come to an end. You can call me a nerd after I say this: I give thanks for those long, eight-hundred page books!

    - I am grateful for filmmakers. They are just like the authors of books: they tell stories. Only, the filmmakers go even further and make the stories come to life in front of a screen. They also give me entertainment and knowledge. One day, I would like to become a filmmaker and make films that inspire and give insight to viewers. I am especially thankful for WongFu Productions for making beautiful, moving short films that have inspired me to take my camera and film the world as I perceive it.

    - I am grateful that I have God in my life. Sometimes I feel like I’m going nowhere and ask what the whole point of me living is. But just knowing that God is there for me is enough to get me knowing that I’m heading somewhere in life. I know God has a plan for me. I don’t know what it is but I know I’m grateful He is there to guide me.

I can relate to your comment. I love my siblings very much as well. I know that sometimes they get annoying, but at the end of the day i still love them. They complete my life by making me forget about my problems. They are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. At times it seems like they don't matter, yet I find myself lost without them. We can have fun anywhere when we're together.

I understand where you are coming from. I consider God to be my strength. I'm grateful to say that he has my back. No one can ever take that away. I would not have gone as far in life as i have gone if God was not in my life.

  18. 1.I am thankful for having such wonderful parents. My mom Amalia and my dad Arturo. I am who I am because of them. Anytime I need help or advice they’re always there for me. They work day and night for me and my brothers to have everything we need. My dad is a truck driver and he goes on the road for a couple of days; always suffering out there with storms or things happening to the truck. My mom has been working for many years and is always complaining that her head hurts or her back but she still keeps working to give us everything we need. That is why I am thankful to them and so lucky to be able to call them my parents.
2.I am thankful for having such great brothers and sisters. For my brother Arturo and my sisters Melina, and Suzy. We all help each other out when we need one another. Without them it wouldn’t be the same. I always get great advice from my older sister Melina; she lets me know what is wrong and right. My brother Arturo, we have been the closest ones. I used to take care of him when he was little and loved playing with him. My little sister Suzy, she makes my day exciting. She the weirdest one but without her my life would be boring. I love them!
3.I am thankful for having such a wonderful boyfriend. We have been together for 7 months and they have been amazing. I love spending my time with him because he can make me smile over anything. He is sweet as a jolly rancher and can make my saddest days fade away. His everything I ever wanted in a guy and I’m so happy to know that his all mine.
4.I am thankful for having a home. It’s not a mansion but I’m thankful for having a place to call home. For having a place where I am warm when it cold and cooled down when it’s hot. There are many people living out on the streets wishing to have a place to live at.
5.I am thankful for the food I eat. Without food we would starve to death. Many people may not be capable to eat a good meal because they don’t have the money.
6.I am thankful for school. We have the opportunity to go to school for free and we should appreciate it because not many places have this opportunity for kids.
7.I am thankful to people who built all the electronics that entertain us like: television, iPods/mp3 players, computers, etc. Without these things the world would be boring.
8.I am thankful for people that help us like: doctors, firemen, teachers, police, etc. Without people like them the world would be difficult to live in.
9.I am thankful for all types of transportation like: cars, planes, trains, bikes, etc. They make life easier to go from one place to another.
10.Lastly, I am thankful to god for everything he has given me; a wonderful family, an amazing boyfriend, and great friends. He is always there to guide my every day move and helps me get through life everyday.

  19. 1) I am thankful for the roof over my head because I know many don't have a place to call home. And I find that I should never take my bed for granted because it’s better than sleeping on concrete.

    2) I am thankful for my eyesight. I had a distant relative that was blind and he reminded me how wonderful it is to see. He described everything he remembered and everything he regretted not being able to see. Every color and every shape should be cherished and remembered, and I find that a world in darkness is a very depressing life to live.

    3) I am thankful for every type of art. I love music, dancing, and painting. Without these forms of entertainment, life would be very boring.

    4) I am thankful for school. I know many people around the world don't have the privilege of going to school for free and I know I should never take my education for granted.

    5) I am thankful for technology. This is self explanatory but I'll explain anyways. Many of the things that we are given today, from our basic sewage system to our ipods, are things that weren't around hundreds of years ago. Without technology, we are just cavemen, and I really don't look good in a loincloth.

    6) I am thankful for modern medicine. There are a lot of diseases and illnesses out there and thanks to all the doctors and scientists out there, we don't have to worry about many of them. And although, there are a lot of things that are still under experiment for a cure, I am thankful for the medicines that we do have.

    7) I am thankful that I am an American citizen. There are a lot of people in countries that are deprived of basic rights, but I know I don’t have to worry about that in America. My parents emigrated from Vietnam during the Vietnam War and they tell me every day what they had to go through. I have learned that the things that we are born with shouldn’t be taken for granted because we could be living under repression or a dictatorship, but we’re not; so, I am grateful for that.

    8) I am thankful for my experiences; both good and bad. Every experience is a lesson learned and each one is a different opportunity to broaden my knowledge of the world. They shaped me into the person I am today. The people I met and the places I got to see are things that I will never be able to duplicate.

    9) I am thankful for our feelings and emotions. People would think this is an odd thing to be grateful for, but I have my reasons. Emotions allow us to learn from our past pains and move on. It gives us the support needed to do the things we need to do in life. Emotions allow us to love and be thankful for what we have and the people around us. It’s what separates us from other creatures in the world and gives us a reason to live. Emotions guide us through our decisions and this can be either a good or a bad thing, but either way, they are a huge part of our lives and I am thankful for them.

    10) Lastly, I am thankful for just living. I get to live the life that many, before the Civil War and Women’s Suffrage Movement, weren’t able to enjoy. I get to live my life equal to a white male in society and I will never take that for granted.

    6. I am thankful to have the opportunity to have a free education. I am many parts of the world people have to pay their education. 7. I am thankful to have electricity. Without it, we could not do so many things after dark. We would need to use candles to see at night.
    8. I am thankful to have a home to live in. so many people do not have a home and have to live in the streets.
    9. I am thankful to have a cellphone. I can talk to anyone wherever I am. If there is ever an emergency, you can use your phone. Let us say you are happily driving your car and it is very late. Suddenly, your car stops. Oh no! What will you do? You take out your phone and call for help.
    10. I am thankful for modern transportation. If you need to go anywhere, there are many ways to get there. Before you would have to take long and at times dangerous journeys to get to your destination. Therefore, many people would not travel at all. If you had family far away, you will not visit much.

I am thankful for technology because without them, we wouldn’t be as advanced as we are with them. Tools such as calculators and computers make life much more easier. Radios and televisions are just as useful and ways of entertainment such as game consoles are just plusses.

I am thankful for air conditioners and heaters because without them, we’d suffer from the hot, blazing sun in the summer and nearly freeze to death in the winter.

I am thankful for Youtube because I’ve discovered things that I have never thought I ever would. For example, the love and passion for music and dance. I've found inspiration on Youtube.

I am thankful for Far East Movement because they broke the stereotype that all Asians could only succeed educationally and they have inspired me to strive for my goals and dreams.

I am thankful for my physics tutor because I am in desperate need for help to pass my class and he’s taken the decency to lend a helping hand.

7.I am thankful for my friends, because without them, I would literally not have a life. They are the only ones that take me out. See I rarely go out, because first I do a lot of homework, and second I am the laziest person, I sleep from Monday thou Friday 11-6 am then nap from 3-7. On the weekends, I work on Saturday from 9-3 then nap from 3-7, and Sundays, are the only days I go out free of will to see my boyfriend.
8.I am thankful to be alive, because when i was a baby I was in a position were I could of died, and and it makes me think, what if I never even had a chance to live? and also, when I was eight years old, I was diagnosed with a disease that is curable, but when it to far into the disease, it kills you. I went almost to late, and I got the medication to cure it, and now I am cured. It was horrible to think that I could be gone, just like that. It makes me thankful for everyday I live, and everyday I don't take anything for granted, because just like that you can go.
    9. I am thankful of being born in the such an advanced century, because if i haven't, I wouldn't of never had the cure to my disease.
    10. I am thankful for my boyfriend, because he has been there for me when everyone else couldn't, or wouldn't be for me. When I said no to love, he said yes, and he made me into a positive thinker, and to think that thinks can happened for me, if I just try. He supports me and he is the same way as me, we both came from poverty, we both want to be successful, and we both want to be together. Ive known him for four years now. Maybe its a little, maybe people may think we are not meant to be. But i think otherwise, If it wasn't for him, I would of keep thinking that I was never going to marry anyone, or ever love anyone because I have been hurt so much. He gave me a lot of the confidence I have now. I love him.

  33. 1.) First of all i am thankful for having my father and mother. Even though i do not live with my mother, i am glad to have them both alive, and in good health. If it were not for them i would probably be heading in the wrong direction. But thanks to the good morals they have shown me, im heading in the correct direction.
2.)I am thankful for my sisters. Even though we are always fighting, and they annoy me 24/7, they inspire me. They inspire me in a a way that i make me want to try my hardest. The reason to that is i want to set a good example for them; not just in school, but at home. Because of them i am more responsible; due to the fact that i watch after them.
3.) Arnulfo Nuno, my boyfriend, is another thing i am thankful for. He is always there for me, and supports me in whatever i do. He motivates me to try my best in everything I do, so i can succeed in life. He is the one i go to when i am down, because he always knows how to put a smile on my face. I also go to him when i need help on my homework or essays, or anything school related, just because he has been through it already. So he pretty much is like my best friend, and its hard to find guys like that.(:
4.) Having a place I can call home and look forward to go to after school, is another thing I am thankful for. Not many people have a stable home, or a home at all. So im very fortunate to have a roof over my head, even if its not the best looking house on the block, its something.
5.) I am also thankful for my dads job. Thanks to his job, he can bring food to our table. That is why i appreciate my dad so much, he sacrifices a lot for my sisters and I, especially him waking up like at four in the morning just to go to work.
6.)I am thankful that God has given my sisters, parents, and I good health. Sometimes we take our good health for granted, but we are very thankful that we aren't missing anything, or have anything extra.
7.) I also thank God that he has waken me up every morning for the past 16 years.
8.) Erik, and Maria are two of my very good friends. I am thankful to have them both in my life, it is hard to find good friends like them. But I am also thankful for my other good friends.
9.)Even though San Bernardino is not the most cleaned up town, im glad to live in this area. The reason is because we have been very fortunate so far to not have a natural disaster.
10.) Last but not least, cell phones. Although you can argue on whether they are good or not, I say they are. Without them we could lack in communication. Cell phones can save lifes, or re connect you with your loved ones.

  34. -I am thankful for having schools. It is not mainly about the learning part of it,but more of the social part.Alot of people make most of their friends at school such as:in their classes, play on the same school team, same clubs, etc.Without friends we would be bored many times out of the week for our whole lives.
-I am thankful that there are movies to watch either on tv or on DVD.Many of the things that I do now have to do with movies, and without movies my day would be just watching novelos, cartoons,or wheather channels.
-I am glad there are people to set guidelines and rules in the world. The way people stress following rules really tells me(and people like me) how severe the consequenses are for breaking some of the guidelines/rules that there are.For example, people stress how bad stealing is,so i do not do that. When it comes to a sign that says you cant step on wet grass,i know there wont be that much harm if i catually do step on the wet grass.
-I am thankful for having beds in the world today.I am pretty sure there werent beds anywhere near as cpmfortable as there is now to sleep on, can you imagine how much that would mess up with your back and your sleep?
-I am thankful for the many desserts in the world today. One of the many important desserts are icecream, brownies, and chocolate.I honestly believe that if any of the desserts in the world would be listed as top three it would be these three because of their importances.Icecream goes so great in the hot when it is scorching or even when the weather is mild.Brownies are an any kind of weather snack/dessert.Chocolate is

  35. The Things to Be Thankful for (In no particular order)

-Human Companionship- I love my family and friends who are there to help you whenever you need help. They never give up on you no matter how stupid you may act and they always push you to progress forward.
-Living in a Democratic Country: We live in a country where we(our adults) get to choose the important decisions that happen in our country. We could be a country that has one supreme ruler that is the biggest purchaser of limousines while his country starves to death for example North Korea.
-Human Intelligence- What allows us to enjoy physical and emotional satisfaction is the human capability of intelligence. Without this leap in our evolution we would not be able to communicate or build tools. Due to this evolution we have the ability to design steel which can go hundreds of feet from the ground up. Best of many of us do not have to put ourselves through the same perils that our ancestors once did.
-Art- Art is the sole thing that keeps everyone entertained. I am thankful for all types of art including but not limited to movies, drawings, music, cooking, and sculpting. Without art life would be dull. There would be limited forms of entertainment and we would not be able to achieve the exact level of imagination that people currently have.
-Currency- I am thankful that we use money that is standardized so everyone pays exactly the amount that they need to pay. There is no guess work involved on how much a bag of carrots is worth. The use of paper money allows us to sufficiently pay for the services and goods that we acquire.
-Education- One of the most important thanks goes to education. We have the opportunity to receive the education required to maintain and progress our world in terms of technology and peace. We can learn from the mistakes of the past and take actions the right way. The development of newer technologies that allows us to go to beyond what we could ever imagine is due to the ability that we have to learn.
-Hygiene- This one is pretty much explanatory. Due to the level of hygiene we have at our disposal we can prevent common negative affections to our body’s immune system. Just by treating our water we save teethes of millions of children.
-Long Communication- The world now relies on instant communication more than ever. If we lost our technology to communicate short and long distances we would be put back into the middle ages within a surprisingly short amount of time.
-Stock Market- Many would consider this as something awkward to be thankful for. However, the stock market is responsible for many of our companies being where they are today. Without the stock market these companies would never have had any money to grow, and the stock marketers would not have made any additional money like they have.
-Clothing- Clothing keeps you safe from the environment and it provides you with a signature that others can infer your qualities with. The types of clothes you wear show what kind of person you are and give an idea of what to expect. Clothing also helps you brave the outdoors and indoors and help you adapt to your situation.
-Adaptability- A very important feature of anything that wants to move on is adaptability. Adapting to your environment is something that humans have showed to do very well. Adapting to change overall is what keeps us alive and thriving. Change can be unexpected or it can take millions of years, however if you are able to adapt to change efficiently you will benefit yourself and keep yourself in the world.

  36. 6-Transportation: 200 years ago it would take me more or less two weeks to travel the distance of California. Today I can roam the country in the same amount of time. Though many take it for granted, I deeply appreciate any source of transportation, whether it;s a car or a camel.

7-Cameras: Our life, on average, is about 70 years long, 85 if you are fortunate. Of those 70 years, how many instances can we seemingly recall? Cameras provide us with those meaningful occasions which otherwise would go unnoticed. Sure we can go back to the dinosaur ages with a pencil and paper, but the touch of a button is a bit faster.

8-Laundromats: I enjoy staring at strangers for long periods at a time, it's always been a strange hobby of mine. Do it at school, however, I would probably get jumped. My weekly visits at laundromats give me that chance to stare on, without interference! After all, they don't know me, and I do not know them, for all I know they could think I was a mentally challenged child. Can't leave out the obvious reason, of course, they give us clean clothes, for a low price, sometimes.

9-Intellect: I like my mind, take that back, I love my mind. It's perhaps my greatest asset, everyone's greatest for that matter. It gives us what identifies the individual we are. We don't have to be another Einstein to show extreme gratitude, far from it actually; but an occasional admiration would not kill.

10-Brownies: Everyone has their own worldly desire, their kryptonite that they'd die for, brownies just happen to be mine. Whether my day has been blue, gray, white, or black, I can always turn to their scrumptious chocolatey goodness to bring my spirits up to level.

  37. 1.) I am thankful for my cell phone, which without it I wouldn't be able to talk to my friends or family. Or even go on facebook and myspace.

2.)Then is my Home, that is were I love to be at times. I feel lucky that I have somewhere to go to everyday.

3.) Hand sanitizer, I wouldn't like to walk around with dirty hands.

4.) Also my mom's cooking, I love coming home and seeing what she left us to eat because most of the time it is something I like.

5.) After it is having a birthday. because t get cake.

6.) TV, because I can see what goes on in the world and it kills boredom.

7.) Then crosscountry, because it is so much fun and we get to go to new places with some of my closest friends.

8.)Then Soccer because it is so fun to play and it is fun to even watch.

9.) Also being able to wear a clean pair of socks every day bacause I am thankful my mom takes time of everything to wash my clothes still.

10.) Last but not least is chocolate, I am thankful it was ever inventes. It is so good and it turns a boring desert into something delicious.

  38. 1-History: The only possible way to advance in our present time, is to learn from the time before us. Sure, to many history may seem as a boring subject in school, but history is the story behind life. It tells what happened yesterday and gives a helpful indicator as to what will happen tomorrow.

2-Acetaminophen: I say this with some discrimination because when I'm in pain, pharmaceutical pain relievers are usually my last choice. Yet, they do provide comfort to those in dire pain, and I would rather show my deep appreciation for them than witness another suffer.

3-Sleep: Imagine working 24 hours non-stop, would you really be able to continue on? Us students complain about staying up a few hours after midnight to finish homework that we were to lazy to do earlier, and it truly does destroy our spirit. Without sleep, a chance to rest our abnormally shaped heads, we would surely go insane.

4-Air freshener: Truthfully, some people have just never learned the true meaning of soap. Of course I wouldn't comment on someone's stench in front of them, but it always helps to keep a small bottle of Frebreze on you. Just picture the worst case scenario; one bathroom, humid weather, and a chili-eating contest.

5-Kool-aid: There is nothing better in the San Bernardino atmosphere than a icy bottle of Kool-aid, any flavor. Plus times are rough these days, you can't compete with ten cent per quart.

  39. @Ernesto: You answered the prompt very clearly. I chose yours because you mentioned clothes in your answer. Most people don't think twice about the clothes, they just take it for granted.
@Amy A: You answered the prompt clearly too, and you also give good descriptions for each of your choices. What caught my eye was when you mentioned your I-Pod. Even though most people say that technology isn't important, it is in some ways. Without technology, life as we know it would be very different.

  40. Ten things I am thankful for:

    1) Family/ Friends: They are very important to me, and I am very gratefull for them.
    2) A roof over my head: Not all people have a warm place to go after a very hard day of school, or work.
    3) Health: This is one of the most important things I am thankful for because without health we are not able to do anything.
    4) Job: I am thankful, for the opportunity that my father has a job. With this we are able to maintain our household.
    5) Education: Not all people around the world have the opportunity to maintain their education
In this country we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to continue our education to te fullest.
    6) Pets: I have two dogs and I think they are the greatest thing ever. They are so innocent that when they make any type of move, they make me laugh.
    7) Music: When I am havin a hard time around school, and with myself I tend to hear music this helps me forget about gall the stress I have. Music is great to distract yourslef from anything you have in your mind.
    8) Teachers: I am very thankfull for many of my previous and actuall teachers. There has been many good teachers who have push me to do my greatest in everything I do. Thank You :)
    9) Materialistic things: Even though materialistic things do not play a huge role on our lives, these do contribute on making us part of who we are.
    10) Being Alive: I am seventeen and this is a pretty long way to live, compare to others who only get half way of this.

    ReplyDelete
  41. To Alejandra A: I really like how well you expained yourself with this prompt. You did a good job expaining "why" you pick these ten things.

To Janna: I agree with your comment about music. When were feeling upset about something this always gets us up. Good job expaining your ten things.

  42. I know this is late, I'm sorry.

    1) My family- They have always been there for me and always will be. In uncertain times, they are the ones that keep me strong and grounded (not in the punishment tense). I am so lucky to have been raised in a warm and loving home and I am forever indebted to my family. I strive every day to make them proud.

    2) My friends- I am so grateful to my friends. They are always there when I need them and never fail to make me laugh. I have some of the best friends in the world. Thank you.

    3) The Gospel- My church has had such a profound and definitive effect on my life that I couldn't imagine life without it. I have always found a calm strength in my church and I know that if i ever need help, my Heavenly Father will be there to help me. My biggest goal in life is to have a family that I can provide well for and that is strong as a family and strong in the church.

    4) A Certain Someone (some of you know, but please don't share who it is)- Kind, fun to be around, gorgeous, and just absolutely amazing, she has made my life a million times better. I feel like the luckiest man in the world to have found you and you are so amazing that you have told me that you feel the same way. We are both very strong in the church and both of our families know each other well. And for all of you people that know me well, you have nothing to worry about with me. I'm NOT that kind of person.

    5) Sports- Sports have taught me many principles that will never leave me. Patience, hard work, both individual and team worth, mental and physical toughness.....are among a long list.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 6) Boy Scouts- Many make fun of this group, but if I had to do my life over again, I would involve myself even more heavily into Scouting. Most people think that it's a group of boys camping in some nice, quaint campground while doing a bunch of dumb stuff. In reality, we go on some of the coolest trips and see some of the most amazing sights. This is more than learning how to survive in the wild, it's how to survive life. You learn and master many skills and grow exponentially as a person.

    7) My truck- Big, beefy, and loud, it's everything that I'd want in a vehicle. Thanks for being you.

    8) My house- It keeps me warm every night and is a great place for parties!

    9) Our trailer- Every time we go camping, it goes with us and it's always amazing to come back to a warm trailer and a hot, delicious meal after a full day of riding, fishing, hunting, hiking...etc.

    10) This weather- It has turned our fireplace back on and a cup of hot chocolate into my hands. The only way for it to be better? Snow.

I loved what you wrote (i.e. politics) because it was original, and out of every other comment that I read, no one else wrote about the same thing that you did. You even gave your view on it somewhat. The one thing that I did not think that you needed to include in your comment was your opinion of Bush and his book, etc. Otherwise, a really good job done! :]

    @ Brandon.G.
I liked the way you put the hospital one in your quote for a few reasons. One, it was an eye-catcher because it was in the middle of all the normal things that everyone else would put, so it really made the reader look twice. Two, you explained it a little bit, and for those of us that know you pretty well :] it came as a shock for me to read that, because I never would have guessed that you would have been one to be in the hospital for anything. The only thing that I feel you could have done better would be to ELUCIDATE more on that small explanation. It is something that a few of us would like to know more about. Great job in every other aspect!!!!!!! :]

  45. 1) I know everyone says this but I am grateful for family. They are there through thick and thin. Help you problems and are great to be around. Some of the best memories people have, they have because of family. Many memories that I have deal with family they are the greatest.
    2) Friends you can say are your extended extended family. They are with most of the time in school so you get to know them well. I think they help people get through school, because it can be very stressful at times. Friends make you laugh, offer advice, and just like family they are there when you need them most.
    3) Music is one of the greatest things man has ever created. There are different genres and artists for you to choose from. Music makes any task you are doing more enjoyable from start to finish. I can not do certain things without listening to music. Without music think of how much extra time people would have on there hands. Everyone should be grateful for music.
    4) Books open doors to worlds that people have never imagined. They have entertained people since the being of time. Books also reveal many things about a culture and time period. Bottom line books are great there’s a reason that they are still around, they are enjoyed.
    5) Modern conviences go a long way in society, and for that I am grateful. Air conditoning, Indoor plumbing, etc. all are great. Think about how would we live if it all disappeared right now? We all would lose it.
    6) Clothes are something I am grateful. For reasons obvious and others not so obvious. First covers you up not exposed to everything. Clothes give you a chance to express yourself to show that you are different from one another. Some people got the extreme and I mean extreme, but if that’s how they express themselves so be it.
    7) It may sound nerdy and it may be stressful at sometimes but I am grateful for education. Education opens the door to many things. Look at examples throughout history where not having education affected life, the dark ages, but when learning was revived during the Renaissance life improved.
    8) Girls, yes girls. I wonder how boring life would be without them. When most guys decide to grow up and actually decide to find one to have a lasting relationship with then they become companions. I know what it felt like to have a good girl in my life. So I am most grateful to have girls on this earth.
    9) Earth is a good place to live on, God could not have created a more perfect place. It is actually the only place we can live on in our universe. If we want to remain living here we need to take better care of her.
    10) Life is what I am grateful for. The fact that I got a chance at life is the greatest gift I could ever recieve. The fact that we have a chance to do a lot of good means something. Even if its a little thing the fact that we have a chance to leave our stamp on this earth is great nothing will ever top that.

  46. 1) I am greatful for my family. They are always there when I need them. I could not get through life with out them.
2)Sports is another thing i am greatful for. With out sports i would be lost. It keeps me out of truble and guides me in a good path.
    3) I am also gratful for my health. I am thankful that i do not have a serious illness because if i did i would not be able to do anything.
    4) Food, I am greatful for food. In some countrys they do not have enough money to eat every day. Thas why i am greatful for food.
    5) I am greatful for my house. There are many people that i see around my block that are homeless and makes me appreciate what I have.
    6) Cars are another thing i am greatful for. With out a car i would have to walk to my distenation.
    7) I am greatful for my bed. My parent told me when they were small they slept on the floor or shared a bed. I am thankful that I have some where comfortable to sleep on.
    8) Music another thing i am greatful about. There are many types of music you could hear. When you listen to music it make the time pass by.
    9) School is another thing i am gratful for. School is where i met most of my friends and for that i am greatful.
    10) I am greatful for Enrichment. Whith out enrichment i would not have anything to do over the break.

    2) secondly i would like to thank my mother, she has been through everything with me and she is just an amazing person.
3)thridly i am thankful for being able to come home everyday to a nice warm home, most people are not able to come home, mainly becuase they do not have one.
    4) next i am thankful for the education that had brought me to where i am now, becuase my knowledge can take me everywhere in life.
5)i am also thankful for the clothes i have on my back, there are many people who has either lost everything they have including their family and do not have clothes at all.
6)i am also thankful for the education i am reciceving from my teachers becuase most poeple do not have the oppurtunity to obtain an education like i do.
    7) i am thankful for the freinds that i have made who told me to get on the right track and do everything the right way and do not go down the bad path.
8)i am aslo thankful for all the electronics thhat the world had devoloped over time such as cell phones, ipods, and game systems. it amazing to see how our world has greatly changed over the time and i am thank ful for that.
9)i am aslo thankful for the great enetertainment we have now and days such as music, sports, and television shows. it keeps our world going around.
    10) i am thankful for all the beautiful women in our world(mrs.maenpaa)*cough*cough*, can not live with them and cannot live with out them

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOODNIGHT:) EAT UP!!!!

  48. To Jeremiah: I like the fact that your thank you's were humorous. It was realistic, yet intresting to read. Another thing in particular that i like was, it wasnt cliché but yet well thought of. The lol's were not the best choice but its tempting to put them.

To Bahvin: Intresting topics, but very very important. Good choice, they were a little bit stange but if we think about it they are necessary. Impressive choice of words and sentence structure.

  49. To Abby:
Your comment effectively address the prompt because you explained why you thank god for everything he has giving you and gave full details why.It was very interesting to read,
    Good Job! :D
    To Janelle:
Your comment effectively address the prompt because you gave reasons why you were thankful.I liked how you used creative topics like having no acne and make up.Good Job!

  50. @Janna: Your comment really stood out to me. What you wrote about your brother and how much you love was really sweet. I had no idea your brother has cerebral palsy. I think thats its great how you enjoy being with him and making him feel good. You addressed the prompt well and it is very relatable.
@Andrew: Your comment was interesting, especially when you mentioned laundromats. I think that it's cool that you go to laundromats because a lot of people do their laundry at home. However, what I thought was kind of weird was when you said you liked staring at strangers for long periods and that it was a hobby of yours. I would not look at you as a different person. It's just something I would expect anyone to say. I agree with the other things you wrote though. You didn't write ten things you were thankful for; you started from 6 to ten.

  51. To Angie:
I like how you thank Mrs. Schwenker. This is because she was a tough teacher but she made learn something about oneself.

    To Guadalupe:
I like how you descride your parents. I can really relate to you beacuse my parents are the most important thing to me to.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Abby: I think you did really good because your answers were really descriptive. You included God a lot, which shows you are thankful for God for everything else you are thankful for.

Cherrie: I liked that you included Far East Movement in what you were thankful for. They have come a long way and did break that stereotype. It's true that the media tries to push asians out of the media, and it is nice to see that Far East Movement have become so popular.

  53. @jovani: Yours were very nice but I know that you could have elaborated a bit more on each. other than that they were very good. :)

@Angie: i love your comment! It was very humorous and unexpected. Midol! who would have thought to put that? it was great I loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  54. to Jeremiah: I love the fact that you were humorous; it kept me interested and made me connect with you on a more personal level. The things that you were grateful for are things that many people can understand and would not normally think of.

to cherrie: I liked your connections of people and the problems we have in the world; it was easier to understand when you said "Angelina Jolie," rather than saying "people who adopt foreign kids." It was more personal because we all know her and also funny in a way. I also liked that you said things that we usually take for granted like fire and boats; it made me think about the small things that we are given.

  55. @ Amy A.: You did a great job on your post. I thought you were serious and being truthful. You also explained everything pretty well. I noticed that you talk to your dogs. That's interesting.

  56. Andrew: The one thing that caught my attention the most was cameras. I never really thought about how such a little device can create store memories with just a snap of a finger. Cameras are useful for the unfortunate ones whom possess a poor memory and for those whom have short term memory loss.

Julie: I found eyesight the most emotionally appealing. My grandfather was also blind, so I know where you are coming from. I can't imagine life without color, let alone blind. My grandfather has showed me, like your distant cousin, that seeing should not be taken for granted but should be cherished with every blink.

  58. To Amy A.:Your 10 things to be thankful for are the key to having a nice normal life full of: good conversations, great times, and family moments; for your entire life. When you say that you are thankful for your house, rules, your parents, siblings,AND of course friends it sounds like you are a people erson because people are around four or five things that you are thankful for.

To Jeremiah: Your 10 things to be grateful for sound pretty funny and make sense in a way,AND sounds touching. The one where you say that you are thankful for beautiful women is funny but true,if there werent beautiful women(like nancy ;D) in the world then there would be no reason to get up and even put your hair JUST the way you like it (haha). As for the things that you are thankful for that is touching is about how your sister takes care of you and is like a parent, which sounds cool!

  59. @JULIE:One of your thanks that caught my eye was the experiences one. Everything you said was the exact same way i feel about experiences. I think you be reading my mind and just rewording it better because Im more then sure we feel the same way about the human emotions.

@ANGIE:Im also very tankful for Midol because without it women would be way more crazy during that time then normal. It seem to me that your thankful for the simple things in life which is cool

  60. To Angie: They way how you thank the objects was an interesting way to start your sentence. The one response that really stood out for me was pain. I was suprised how you were thankful for something that most people would hate but your reason for being thankful made me see that pain is a necessity. I realized that pain makes us see how vulnerable we can be at times and it only makes us stronger for the next time we get hurt.
To Andrew: Your comment was the most interesting I had read. It addressed the prompt effectively and it stood out. I agree with you, like myself I also love brownies and they help brighten my mood whenever I have one. The confusing part was how your comments went form six to ten and then continue from one to five.

  61. @Angle: Like my own, your comment was of the more creative sort. Your list was created out of the box and for the most part pretty haphazard, but I absolutely agreed with your rationale for each of them. For example, vegetables and color may seem unnecessary, but without them, how would our lives be affected (question mark which I can't find). You did a good job of answering that question which indicates how genuine your list was.

@Janelle: You surely do go in great depth with your comment, which is a good thing. Particularly, your comment stood out to me because you gave readers a very close insight to your personal life, a rather rare revelation. I love your list. The items mentioned, whether physical or emotional, should never be taken for granted, in fact the should be valued with as much appreciation as possible. Well, in my case, not so sure about the make-up, but a definite yes for everything else.

i think somtimes it is important to have that special someone in you life.because when you feel like you have failed ,and no one else makes you feel better ,they are there to make it all better an to cheer you up.I agree with most of your things that you are giving thanks for.
    @janna
you are right god is th most important thing to give thank for.if it werentfor god i would of been lost in life, without an excuse to live,I owe it all to him.

  63. @Edith Jimenez: Your list was well written and creative. You did address the prompt well and you did seem very thankful. I chose to comment on your post because it stood out to me, mainly because I can tell you were being honest.

@Alejandra A.:Your list was very emotionally packed and funny. You did address the prompt well because I can see you took your time to work on this. I chose your post because it seemed very sincere and I found a connection with it.

P.s. I'm thankful for a friend like you too Alejandra.

Very well put,and good job explaining all your reasons. The World Cup one made me laugh a lot. I loved how you gave cold hard facts that also supported your reasoning.

    @Julie:
You are very good at putting things into words and making them understandable. I liked every one of the things you put, a lot of them were very different from everyone else's.

  66. To Kyla: I thought it was interesting the way that you order the things that you are thankful for. You did a good job coming up with ideas for this blog. The only piece of advice that i would give you is next time try and use other word in your sentences so it wont be a repetition of the same sentence. I that the last thing you were thankful for was funny.

To Bhavin: I think you did an excellent job on going into detail about the things that you are thankful for. I thought it was kind of odd when i saw that you are thankful for the stock market but know i understand why you are thankful. Nice job on your blog.

  67. To Alonzo : I thought you being thankful for being a citizen of a great country was funny, but for the wrong reasons. It is great to live in a country with so many freedoms, while in other countries if you leave you can only leave with the clothes on your back. I am also thankful for education because it can open many doors, lets face without education you can not do alot of things.

To Angie : I got to agree with you about Ms Schwenker, I never thought that math would be easy after I took her class but I was wrong math seems easier thanks Ms Schwenker. I also enjoy books they do help pass the time if they are good of course.

  68. To Janelle: I really like the points you made. You're not only thankful for just material items, but actually appreciating your life and your home. I can relate because I'm also grateful for the roof above my head, without a home I don't know where I would be. The serious tone of your post lets me know you really mean what you say and it also correctly answers the prompt. I found little grammar errors, you did great.

To Amy Anderson: I think it's great how the first thing you mentioned was your parents. All of us love are parents, but some may take them for granted. Your post addressed the prompt well and I found no grammar errors. While I read yours I noticed one thing you mentioned was the law enforcement, which was very interesting. I think that is a good thing to have and not many of us have noticed that.

I am thankful for many of the things that you are thankful for too. For my family, dogs, cell phone, iPod, friends, and a home. I could really relate to the things that you are thankful for having. Who are those weird people you are talking about?

    @ Lisette
I thought that it was sweet to mention your brother. Even though he’s younger, he treats you like a younger sister. Some people do not like being seen as young. You do not care and see what your brother is trying to do for you. watch out for your spelling mistakes. Just so you know.

You addressed the prompt correctly, the tone of your wrote in is serious which makes me believe everything you say you are thankful for. The things are thankful for are simplistic but you went into dept with them, which made them unique, and made your blog stand out to me. I can relate to most of the things you are thankful for.

    @Andrew Hawkins:
Your writing is creative, and your tone goes from serious to mostly all funny, i like that it varies and it is very smooth to read. They are things that people don't really think about and say, "Hey I'm going to give thanks to my laundromats, and my cameras!" I know we are not literally going to pick then up and thank them, but they are very important things that we use everyday and impact us, without us really noticing it. I can also relate to your list because I am thankful for not only emotional but physical things they are both important, it may vary in how you look at it.
