Corporate Sponsorship

  • Read the following (slightly modified, but actual AP) prompt. Post your comment in response by TUESDAY, November 30th at midnight.
For years corporations have sponsored high school sports. Their ads are found on the outfield fence at baseball parks or on the walls of the gymnasium, the football stadium, or even the locker room. Corporate logos are even found on players’ uniforms. But some schools have moved beyond corporate sponsorship of sports to allowing “corporate partners” to place their names and ads on all kinds of school facilities—libraries, music rooms, cafeterias. Some schools accept money to require students to watch Channel One, a news program that includes advertising. And schools often negotiate exclusive contracts with soft drink or clothing companies. Some people argue that corporate partnerships are a necessity for cash-strapped schools. Others argue that schools should provide an environment free from ads and corporate influence. Using appropriate evidence, write a short response in which you evaluate the pros and cons of corporate sponsorship for schools and indicate why you find one position more persuasive than the other.

  • Respond to two of your classmates' comments, one in which you agree with and one in which you disagree with by FRIDAY, December 3rd at midnight. Be sure to also provide appropriate rationale for your responses.

  1. I think that corporations do an excelent job sponsoring schools. When corporations sponsore schools it does not only help the school money wise, but gives the students at the school an idea of how the outside world works. which could benefit them later on in life if they get the chance to work in a corporation. It is an "okay" thing to have the corporations logo in the school because it is never a bad idea to have your corporation known by the world. The corporation may help the students develope some kind of competative skills that could help them learn to never settle for less.which in my perspective is a good skill to have.

Although,It seems like a good thing it also has its bad sides for example:once the corporation gets invoveled with the school, the school will no longer be the same because its programs may change which in my opinion is a good thing.somtimes what aschool needs to move on and get well known like "harvard university" is take a chance.

  3. Corporations sponsoring high schools can be a good thing and a bad thing. It helps the schools but it can change them completely too.

The good things are that it helps the schools that do not really have money get sports equipment. It helps with the money situation. When there are ads all around schools it helps them do better. It also influences the students to try harder in school. For example, they can get motivated to try harder with sports, singing, and school.

The bad things that come from corporations sponsoring high schools are changes. If a high school is sponsored they got to work with what they get. This can concern the logo, color and designs. It can also change the spirit of people and if they like what they are getting. It does give the schools financial support but it does not really do anything to the students most of them do not even turn to look at the ads nor care what they say. Then they go their own way into bad habits.

  4. Many believe that these corporate partnerships in the the schools is the selling of our schools. There is no way to determine students' emotional appeals upon these ads unless it is asked of them. However, many students view these ads as posters and logos posted all across campus, or merely decor.

Of course, a poor school, like ours, may need to turn to corporate partnerships to fund school activities. For example, sports are funded as well as the equipment that are needed. These corporate partnerships are what keeps low income schools functioning. In other words, there would not be after school activities either. This provides students opportunities to spend their time productively rather than going home.

Although these ads provide schools with financial support, there is a downfall; emotional appeals of students. How do students really view these adds? Are they decors or do they hold more meaning in the minds of these students? This would have to be analyzed in depth, or even surveyed, but there is no sure answer. However, schools do not advertise political, religious, or any other sort of negative subjects that may lead to inadequate behavior. For example, in the school of our cafeteria, there are ads for milk, encouraging students to get in their full servings, but there are no ads on campus that promote smoking tobacco.

All in all, opinions concering ads vary from people's personal interests. Although they might have a negative impact on an individual, it most definitely benefits the school altogether.

  5. Corporate sponsership is when a company donates money to school for putting up ads and other types things that include the companies logos. Many people debate about corporate sponsership in schools. Some people say it's good, while others say its bad.

People may consider this bad thing because it seems as if this companies are giving us charity. A lot of people do not like to be considered poor. Not only do companies give out money, but they also make people seem as if they were billboards. Who wants to be a walking billboard?

Although corporate sponsership has its bads they also have their goods. Corporate sponsership help after school activties stay active. Without money from this companies a lot of after school activties as well as the sports. Not having this things to do after school may cause students to leave campus and do other stuff such as, drugs, vandalizing the streets, and other bad things.

Corporate sponsership is a great debate between people. Some say its bad while others say its good in my opinion corporate sponsership is a great idea. It helps bring money to schools that don't have the money. It makes students stay in school and out of crimes. Not only does it help students stay out of streets, but also it helps them create new friends through after school activites and sports. Corporate sponsership is a great thing for schools

  7. What comes from a school which agrees and allows corporate sponsorship within their school?
The schools who allow companies big or small to advertise within their schools are given money.Money that the school gains is used for the school only. When a school has money, they usually improve a part of their own school that needs to be rapaired or funded more. For example,an art classroom is running out of paint for the entire class. The money from allowing companies to advertise may be used for that.
Any school that allows corporate sponsorship in their classrooms, gymnasiums, and any other place where students may be able to see allow any form of advertisement in their schools. The companies giving the money may choose to hang up posters around the entire school, have them wear the company logo in their clothing and merchandise, and more.Schools have to compromise and give up a sense of comfort from within their schools in order to recieve the money.I believe that one important aspect of anyone's school is the comfort that one gets that they might not get in their homes because there might be destractions or just cannot focus in their house.
I would not want corporate sponsorship in my school.

  9. When it comes to corporate sponsorship, there are many advantages and disadvantages. Both affect the schools and the students at the same time.

The advantages of having corporate sponsors are that the schools would seem to have more value. The school with more sponsors would definetly look better than the school that doesn't have any sponsors. Sponsors make schools look good because its saying, "This school is really great;they have good music programs and libraries, so we are going to support its ideas." Not only would corporate sponsors benefit the school, but also the students. It would give some form of confidence knowing that they have a major company backing up them and their school. Schools could also use the money to help improve their programs and meet their students' needs.

With advantages, there are also disadvantages. Schools may become greedy and only go by the standards just to get money. They may not be using the money for the best things students need. Schools could start competing just for the good name. Corporate sponsorship may also cause students to become bias. They may begin to think that certain brands or companies are not as good as others because they are not sponsoring their school.

Although there are disadvantages to corporate sponsorship, there are more benefits. Sponsors bring good reputation to the schools and the company themself. It would also provide schools an opportunity to expand on their great programs, like art or science.

  10. There are several pros and cons to this article. Corporate sponsoring in a high school environment can be good for the companies advertising their product(s), but in most other ways they are bad for everyone else. “Some schools accept money to require students to watch Channel One, a news program that includes advertising.” This is a really good example of one of the bad points. Notice how it is said the teams that are involved with this type of agency are required to watch this specific channel. So it is basically a win-win situation for the advertising companies. They get money and people to watch their news station. However, it doesn’t have only bad things to talk about. One good point to mention would be because it is a more desirable school to attend than any other, just because of the fact that it has someone sponsoring it, even if it’s Kmart.

  11. Advertising is an important aspect of the business world because without there would be low sale’s. In my opinion companies go way too far in their advertising strategies .If we think about it, that is how desperate business corporations are for sales. The pros are limited, one fact I would like to point out is the business corporations are targeting good consumers. They know who their customers are and how to approach them. On the other hand, I don’t like the fact that they are using school as their market place. School is a learning environment and not some magazine article. They are throwing the product into the customers face and it is a little bit overwhelming. Perhaps at the end of the day the consumer gets tired of being approach constantly that eventually decides into seeking other options.

  12. Sponsors can be very helpful for the school and students but some don’t fully help them as well. The negative things about schools being sponsored is that some ads might not be school appropriate. It could be a bad influence to the students. Some ads might also be a distraction to the students. They could be more involve to the ads instead of school. Ads may be a big distraction. The positive things about having sponsors is money. The school will receive money, not just money but materials for the school. Having ads will also get students to get involve in sports or even club with money being receive. Everyone likes new equipment and new technology, it gets students more interested and involved.

  13. (Posting for Julie Tran)

Many would say that corporate sponsorships have its pros and cons in school. It is way to make money, but can make an unhealthy environment for students.

There are many things argued about when it comes to companies advertising their products in schools. Companies such as Pepsi® and Lays® manufactures drinks and snacks that are fattening and sugar filled. These are bad for the students and create a restricted variety in diet. Companies such as these pick and choose what they want the schools to sell. All of a sudden, a student’s favorite energy drink is replaced with sweetened water; or a student’s favorite snack becomes a bag of trail mix. Schools have no say about what they sell when signing this contract to have specific name brand products sold to their students. Schools should promote a healthy mind and a healthy body. But by having these junk foods in schools, it is saying the exact opposite.

Although many can see how bad it is to have companies sponsor schools, there are also good that comes with it. Many schools, like the one I currently attend, are poor and have very low income. It is understandable for these schools to accept money in any form. This money goes towards sport equipment and school materials, such as screen projectors and desks. Money makes it easier for the kids to enjoy the school they’re in and makes them see that just because they’re in low-income school, doesn’t mean they are missing out on the same opportunities given rich students. No one can deny that money makes situations easier and this can be applied to school. Why not accept the extra cash that can help the students?

In conclusion, there are both good and bad said about corporal sponsorships. However, in my opinion, the good outweighs the bad. Coming from a poor school, it’s hard to fund for the necessities like computers. If schools can get money for allowing certain companies to sell and promote their product, then why is it bad? Money is hard to come by and this can help in many ways.

  14. Just like anything else in this world, sponsoring can be either bad or good. It can be be good for the school and the sponsor, because they both win. The U.S. is going through a bit of a problem with the economy, so anyway to make money is a good way. If the school sponsors the corporation, they make more money, because of the new costumers they receive. So, at the end the school will receive money, and will want to keep helping out the corporation. Schools lack certain supplies at time, and being sponsored they will always have some money. This is like buying stock, if the company you buy from does well, then you will make good money. Although, it will not be a happy story. Sometimes the business you buy a stock from does bad or closes down. Just like, corporations won't make enough money to supply the sponsor. Sometimes it can be the other way around, and the school will not advertise the corporation enough. For people who have problems trusting, or relying on others will most likely have a problem with this.

  15. Corporation sponsoring shool can have a postive side to it and also a negetive side.First of all corporation do a good job in sponsoing school. For example when the do so the product that that school is sponsoring becomes really popluar. Also, it help the sport that is being sponsored becaus ethat the neccesay stuff is give to the sport and no money has to come out of a person. On the other hand, people see that it is bad to sponsor school. Due to the fact many people believe that is putting out thet worng message to the young public. Eventhough poeple see as a bad thing to do compaines see it as an inventment. With out them putin the product out the business will not exsist. All in all the sponsoring of a product in high school or sport can help gain more poeple to buy the product, but people see it as a waste of tiem to be doning.

  16. Corporate Sponsorship can be seen at many schools in our nation. It poses good and bad consequences for these schools. On one hand, corporate sponsorship can be very beneficial to a school. It can help out schools by helping them pay for new sports uniforms, which we all know are not cheap. This kind of sponsorship can boost up a school's popularity in their league. On the other hand, corporate sponsorship can pose harsh consequences. The problem with these kind of sponsors is that they believe that they "own" the school by paying for their sport necessities. Sponsors can also cause the exploitation of young athletes. Since corporate sponsors tend to believe that they own the school, they feel that they have the right to threaten schools. If a sport team is not doing well, they may threaten to stop funding their school's sports. Because of hard times, coaches see a problem in a lack of funds. So, they put pressure on their top runners while leaving the rest behind. these "more advanced" runners become injured and cannot compete again. By analyzing the pros and cons of corporate sponsorship, it can be seen that the negative side of the argument is stronger than the affirmative side. Therefore, there is more reasons to say that corporate sponsorship is bad. thank you.

  17. Sponsoring can be a good and a bad thing. The good thing is that the schools can get necessary things they need for free, or get a discount. If you get sponsored by a huge company, it can get your school some exposure. The bad thing is that the image may not be appropriate for the school. This can also start many conflicts. When the company sponsors someone they are usally wanting something in return.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Corporate sponsorships could go both ways on how good or bad they are. In my opinion it is good to accept some money from a corporation when there is no harm done to the people, in this case the students. For, example there is nothing wrong with wearing Nike on a uniform someones uses to compete. As a matter of fact it makes it look like if your school has money, or is good enough to be sponsored, even though sometimes this is not the case. There is also a bad side to sponsorship. If the school is sponsored by a fast food restaurant, for example, and it wants the school to put posters up on the walls, then that is just being a bad influence on the students. Since students will probably see those posters everyday, they will want to eat the fast food, then it will eventually lead to obesity in some cases. Another example is when the company not only wants to promote its products, but it also wants to sell them at the school. This again could lead to serious problems depending on what the company is. In my opinion it is okay that a company sponsors a school. The only thing is that the school has to be careful which company it chooses to be sponsored by.

  19. Although many schools believe using corporate advertising for their schools is a good idea, they don't realize much what they are doing. They do not think about the pros and even cons that come with it. Some of these pros may include more money for books and a to clean up the school for a clean learning environment. On the other hand it tends to cause a magnificent amount of distraction and it makes the school look more like a mall. The most persuasive position are the cons. There are about as many pros and cons because the cons are much more severe. Such as disturbance of students by all billboards.

  20. Corporate sponsorships can have its benefits as well as its negatives. The benefits are that it helps support the sports when needed. The school's main priority is education, so when the school has to chose whether on getting new textbooks or new sport equipment the battle is already lost for these jocks. Being sponsored not only helps relieve the school's finacial stress but it keeps students safer. It is important to keep up to date with equipment, because if is broken or out of date it could seriously injure the students. The negatives are that if the school becomes too dependent on the sponsor it could lead to pressuring students into do better. In my opinion I see that the benefits outweigh the negative, the student's safety comes first.

  21. The good thing about sponsors is that it can became very helpful for students. First, it gives new materials needed and never had. Also, its good for kids who doesn't have enough money and it can bring more students to join in sports and get healthy. If more students are able to join sports more will work in school.

The problems with sponsors it all has its limits. Its cool that they help you, but they will want to control you. They will make the decisions for you, you don't chose the design, colors, and other opinions. Or can't receive other things from other people.

  22. Corporate sponsorships can have a positive and negative affect on a school, depending on how you view it. It is true that most schools probably do that to get money for sports. You also have to see all the negatives before and there are quite a bit. Parents also play a part in the partnership. Ultimately it all depends on how you view this type of situation.

Some of the positive effects can be that it gets the school recognized. They can also get the sponsor and the school more money. The more publicity it gets the more money they both can receive. Most of the positive affects deal with the money a school can receive, as well as the sponsor. Some of the negative affects can be that parents might not want their student(s) to be shown in that manner, like if they show videos of the students playing sports. First of all, schools need permission from the parents to allow them to post any images of their students online or on television. Corporation can possibly negatively influence a school or a student depending on what they present. Students can get wrong ideas from something that is not.

I feel that there are more positive affects than negative. Anyplace that needs money always looks for sponsors that do well and can give a good amount of money. That’s why there are more positives than negatives.

  23. Schools let corporations sponsorships happened because besides the publicity they get, they get more money by selling products, especially if the school has a history of winning. People can get obsessed with with sports, and the companies would make more money off of then than the school would get, they can help the school if it is in need of supplies or other materials. It is good because it helps the economy, money is being passed on fluently. Lastly, school pride probably would go out because more people would make the game more intense to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It is a more positive move because how is school spirit, and having extra money for the school bad. It helps the students become well rounded students, and makes them feel stress free that they might not have the materials to succeed in school. Also, it is something that hyphens up the competition with a sport, and everyone likes a little competition!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Although corporate sponsorships sound like a really good idea at first it may also be bad for a school. What school wouldn't want to get sponsored. In this case it is a win win situation for both the sponsor and the school. The school gets money for sports and the sponsor get to advertise their logo. It works out for both sides. The cons of corporate sponsorships are that schools become to reliant on the sponsor and the school starts to be taken over by the sponsor. The sponsor would also place immense pressure on the athletes because they are not only representing themselves but the sponsor as well. So in my opinion i think that corporate sponsorships are not good.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Some may say that corporate sponserships have many pros and cons to them. It making money and putting the health of your environment at risk worth it?

There are money schools that are poor and don't have very much money due to the low income. Any money that is available to the school can be taken in for a numerous amount of things: school materials, equipment for sports, etc. It's an easy way to support the kids are the school and most of us love the easy way out. Money can help to ease a long list of rough situations and low income schools can full under that list. Because they are sponsered they are able to enjoy the same thing as other kids from other schools. No one is missing out on anything and no one is ever considered "better" than anyone else. Just because the school happens to be low income doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the same things. Nor does it have to be a place kids tread to go to.

On the other hand, it is able to create a very unhealthy environment for the students attending. Food companies that sponser schools provide them with snacks to sell the students that are very unhealthy for them. They can't stop selling them because that is their sponser and maybe the only thing that is bringing in a lot of money for them. It is also because they have signed a contract that restricts the school to selling only their snack and no other ones because of the competition.

Both seem to state some very good points, but, in conclusion, the good seems to be more persausive. If students are getting new sport gear wouldn't they want to join? By joining they should know to be fit and avoid things that are unnecessary to their diet like the snacks the sponser may restrict the school into selling. Money can only benefit the school, so I say it's the better thing to do.

  27. There are lots of postives and negatives in schools using corporate advertising. On the postive side they ca be very beniefical for for the school. They would be able to start new programs for the students or buy new uniforms for the spoirts team. It can also help build a safer more modern school. On a negative side when a corporation gives that much money into a school they kind of do have the right to but in their two cents in what the school does. The school might also start to become pressured if the sports teams dont do so well and if the test scores are not up to exceptations. In my opion it would still be best to try to get the school involved in getting sponserd by corporations.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Corporate sponsorship could bring many good to a school. It brings funding that many schools do not have. It is an easy way to get money for the school and its students. Many schools do not have the resources to buy supplies that are needed. By using corporate sponsorship, they can these supplies. Others disagree, with the success of corporate sponsorship. They view it as the school selling itself to greedy businesses. The school is taking the students choice to decide what they want to buy, by having few choices. I thing that corporate sponsorship is good to a certain degree. This is because schools get much needed funding. This as has to be to a limited extend, so schools should not go overboard.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Corporate sponsorship can benefit schools. It can especially serve low-income families. They are less able to provide learning opportunities. Governments only provide the financial support for schools and for students to learn the objectives. That is why we have standards because students take the CST.

Some teachers and parents fear that the price for a corporate sponsor is too high. They may be worried that schools, if approving corporate sponsor, may be required to display the logo. It could be reasonable for a corporation to ask some form of recognition to its contributions.

  30. Sorry, I know this is late. There are many pros and cons to this argument. When there is a cash-strapped school as ourselves, it would be nice to have sponsorships to help back us financially. Let's take sports for example. Some of the other schools in the area are better equipped to play well because of the money they have. Cajon, for example has a booster clubs that pay for almost everything their teams do. In golf, their guys had team bags, shirts, hats...while we had our team shirt. In water polo, we had to pay for everything out of ours and our coach's pockets. I feel that cash coming in from these sponsorships is badly needed. The cons would be, of course, that these could influence the students in ways that we don't want them to be. On the other hand, I really don't feel that this is as important as some make it to be. My choice? Sponsorships are good.

  31. Lena: Great job. My thoughts exactly...except you wrote them out and made it sound very nice. Sorry doing my IRP and trying to finish this. But, you did a great job and i agree completely. Now I know Ms. Maenpaa isn't asking us to ask questions on this one, but in your opinion, do you think that we could do at Pacific to get these sponsorships. Many people may not know this, but I have quite a few connections in our local and state government, as well as a few corporations. Some of these corporations are big in the area, while some are big on a nationwide or even global scale. I've often thought about how I could somehow get a sponsorship to work, but I'm afraid that Pacific doesn't have much to offer. I'm not saying that we need to stage a coup d'etat, but we do need to have something here that corporations will want to sponsor. I don't want Pacific only getting money because our school is deemed horrible and in need of it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Alonso G.: I'm afraid that I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I don't believe that sponsors can actually take over a school. Plus, the pressure on the athletes to perform, is actually beneficial. I love playing with pressure. It gets the adrenaline running, things slow down, your heart's pumping, you react quicker, and you are on top of your game. When a team has pressure on it to perform, that means that somebody is expecting them to win. Pressure like this helps to breed a culture of winning. I'm afraid that at Pacific, we've had a culture of losing since the school had it's population base fall out from under itself. We need kids that have that unquenchable fire, that thirst, that need to win. Pressure just makes it all the more exciting. And with the money that you could get from these sponsorships, you could put your best people out on that field, court, pool...looking and feeling like winners.

  34. To lizbeth Tores: Your pros and cons were both convincing you said that they help sponser schools and can benefit from staying out of trouble finacially, and for the students however their is always a downside to sponserships they can take over, Which can be over whelming.
To Angie: As like lisbeth Tores said their is the upside and downside of business. They do help financially and it's a big thing nowadays to sponser, but not everything is meant to be a magazine spread or an advertisement like you said. They try to benefit alot form schools.

  35. Maria: I agree that ads may cause a distraction to some students. That, enough, should be taken into consideration to school districts. However, low income schools should take corporate sponsorships to their advantages because they can provide quite a lot of money. Money that can be wisely spent towards school supplies such as computers, books, and sport equipment as well.

Sandra: It stood out to me that you said parents can play a role in partnership. A school should not always turn to corporate sponsorships in times of need, or even greed. Surely, there would be a good number of parents or other adults that would consider contributing money to schools.

To Lena:I disagree with you.I believe that there are more cons than pros.Sure you can have money, but it is not as if they are just going to give you the money with no strings attached. The sponsors will want something in return, most likely to advertise at school. If a school accepts the money from sponsors, they have the power to do whatever they want to the school.I honestly feel that there is more negative than positive.

To Angie:):I agree with you and your dissaproval of advertisement in schools. The things that they will want the school to do will most likely begin small, but later on will become larger and problematic on the school's part because they might not want to do it but are forced to.Schools are also meant to be commercial free,if every place had advertisement there would be no privacy, and no comfort.

To Maria Barajas(: Like I mention in lisette's comment, as I was reading your comment I shortly realized that it is important for schools to be sponser. Not only does it advertaise but it gives money to the school. Both party's are being help though i still believe it can cause a distraction.

  41. To Eric Becerra: Eric I strongly disagree with you.You only gave pros on the corporate sponsorship and didn't give any cons about it.I dont understand how a poster can cause discomfort to a person.Posters that would be put up in the schools will have no violence, sexual images,or anything bad. Corporate sponsorships help poor schools get money for materials and sports equipment.Corporate sponshorship is important for any poor schools.

To Lena:I truly agree with you.You gave alot of good points and how corporate sponsorships are is good. You made a great point by saying sponsors make a school look good. This is because not that many students like going to a bad, poor,or ghetto school. You did a very great job in your blog.

I see your point, but do not agree with you. I do not see how corporate sponsorship could be a distraction for students. What did you mean in saying so? If you would have clarified some more, I t would make your evidence stronger.
    @ Alejandra A.
I agree with you. Schools are not able to buy many necessary supplies. Corporate sponsorships bring in the money needed to buy these supplies. It helps a lot to have extra money for the school to use. However, the amount of corporate sponsorship should be to a certain extent.

  43. i think that this has a more positive effect.Alot of schools could definitely use sponsorships because all the profit goes to the school. i dont really understand how this could be a bad thing but i know that it could definitely help our school, pacific, in many ways.i dont think that schools should ever get too involved because then it might lead to the school becoming too reliant on this as a source for their money and if suddenly this does not work well anymore, the school might return to having very litle money.

  44. @Jacqueline: Your points are very valid, and have persuaded me to think that they are better than what I though they were, because they do make it for school that bring in a low income to have the same kind of support to buy things in which will not corrupt a student.

@Sahara: Your last sentence made a lot of sense because its it true, if a school does not bring in a lot of money and they rely on their sponsors to help them out, and out of no were they cut their money supply, the outcome is bad. So then this must mean that you also may think the same thing, and therefore means that you do think there is a negative effect by getting sponsored.

  45. @Brenda=)i agree with your statement that it is an easy way for schools to earn money. especially since alot of schools can deinitely use it.Also alot of schools do not have the rssources, and this would definitely help them.

@BrandonG=) i agree that this would definitely help low income families because alot of times the money has to come out of pocket for things that are needed in school. Not to put SanBernardino down, but many people in this city dont have the money as it is and this would be a good thing for everyone.

I agree with you, you give good examples of pros and cons. I enjoyed the example you use about the nike sign.

    @ J.C:
I agree with you. I like the cajon example you used in your statement.

  48. @Maria: I liked your analysis very much. Your points were well supported by your arguments. i thought it was very funny that out of nowhere you went from "Athletes" to "Runners." Its okay though, because runners are super cool.

    @Jovani:
Even though your analysis was kind of short you still made some good points,. You just need to develop your ideas a little bit more in order to make a better analysis.

  49. Sorry it's late
J.C. : I agree with you, sponsorships are necessary when you need to get the needed materials. Sometimes the are children who lack the money can't even afford to buy the team shirt. The way we are compare to other schools makes our students feel bad.

Eric: Sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you. I find it better to be sponsored because it will give schools a better chance to improve and compete with other schools. I see what you mean by comfort but I wasn't entirely convinced.

  50. (mine kept deleting again)

to jacqueline: I completely agree with you. Sponsorships in schools have its good and bad, but if it brings good to the students, then its okay. Money is hard to come by and schools must find alternative means to get money.

to eric: I have to disagree. Yes, it takes away student comfort, but schools need money. Sponsorships are the easiest form of financial help. Being a student from a poor school, is it more important that you're comfortable or that you get the best education you can?

  51. @Angie: I would have to disagree with your arguement. I don't think the sponsors are "throwing" their products out there. What I think they are saying is that a school has a really great product or program and major companies are willing to support it because they know what good quality is.

@J.C.: I completely agree with you. There are many things that the school could use the money onto improve its programs. The example of sports is a good reason. To answer the question you asked me, I think it could just be about anything; we just need to think of something that will benefit a lot of students.

  52. @ Nancy:
I like your humor when you say “Who wants to be a walking billboard?” It’s humorous and relieves the tense topic. You also provide good rationale for your reasons. I was impressed, because you came up with some stuff that not very many people would think of. However, I think you mentioned a really good reason in your blog, but I felt that you could have built more upon it. Where you said it helps bring money to schools; I thought that you could have provided a better explanation for that choice. Overall, good job!

    @ Eric Becerra:
I liked your reason choices for your blog, but you started off with a question that I thought didn’t make a lot of sense. I think if you explained the question you posed at the beginning of your blog, then I could probably understand from a better perspective what direction you are coming from. I also have to disagree with your reasoning. If there is corporate sponsorship in a school, it does not always mean that the students are required to wear that company’s logo on their clothing. It is used as a suggestion (by the company) as a way to promote their product. For example, like when the fighters on UFC wear clothing with their sponsors on it, it promotes the company that has that logo. It is not always used as a requirement. In every other aspect, however, I really liked your rationales.

  53. To Lizbeth Torres: I agree with your views on corporate sponsorships. I think it is a good thing to have corporate sponsorships because of the point you give. Sometimes a school does not have the money to buy new equipment so their athletes have to play with old worn out equipment. That could potentially but a athletes heath in danger and thats why i agree with you about corporate sponsorships.

To Jeremiah: I completely agree with about there being positives and negatives to corporate sponsorships. The point that i mostly agree with you on is the pressure on a school to perform well for their corporate sponsorship.
